Bråtens defense socks are an ankle-high coarse knitted warm wool sock. It is made from Norwegian lambswool that is pre-shrunk. Each size has its own unique color at the top of the ankle edge, which helps to match the socks after washing. Socks are great for hiking boots, outdoor activities, work boots and rubber boots. The defense socks from Bråtens got its name by being developed for the Norwegian Armed Forces. This ensures a high-quality sock that is extremely warm and easy to maintain. They are machine washable and can be washed at 40 degrees Celsius.
Bråtens has been producing woolen clothing for over 60 years here at Army star we still have the good old defense sock that helped start Bråtens history. The same sock that the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish defense uses and that the Sirius patrol in Greenland chooses to keep warm. Quite a seal of quality if you ask us! 100% premium wool, animal welfare, eco-friendly washing and dyeing and thorough quality control.
Produced with wool from the sheep breed "Sauen", an Old Norse breed with a long history that came to Norway 5000 years ago. This breed of sheep is characterized by having a very dense and white winter coat with coarser and longer outer wool (approximately 13 cm) and very fine under wool. The fiber thickness varies quite a bit from 35 microns down to 9 microns, which is the finest and softest fine wool found on lambs. In comparison, Merino wool is 19 microns. In addition, the color can also vary, but grey is most common.
